what can we use scissor wise to get it flat on top of the head for a shihtzu dog.I dont want to keep going to the groomers but I am pretty sure they dont use clippers there right? it is done with scossors but how do we have it not uneven and sticking out?

hello im a groomer and i can tell u from my profession we do use clippers we use guard combs over our blades and then we shave from behind thats how we get the affect of a teddy bear head

beats me...I have a male shihtzu with the worst hair cut ever....I just cut it this weekend, he wiggles around like a jumping bean, so he looks like I trimmed his hair with the weed whacker. Lucky for me, he doesn't know what he looks like!

Usually we use electric shaver. leave the ears and use tiny scissors to cut the hair around its eyes. Leave the tail with some long hair. Don't use shavers if you don't know how to use them!

There are a lot of books and know how on the net for grooming your dog. Just be very careful not to get hair in its little eyes. This can scratch their eye and cause ulcers so you got to be very careful about that.

My groomer uses electric hair trimmers with a guard, and yes i have a long coated dog and i don't let it grow extremely long, (I've cut her hair by myself before..its not a pretty sight loll)... my own hair would grow down to my feet too if i let it and wanted to do the up keep of it. how you cut your dogs hair is your own choice and just because you have a dog that is capable of growing hair to the floor doesn't mean you want it to do so.People should be allowed to make their own personal choices about cutting their dogs hair as much as they do their own without people butting in and being rude.
