Hi again, Butterfly. When I first got my black Pom, she had feces stuck to her behind along with being severely matted. I had no choice but to cut it out and I tried to trim everything up evenly. I used scissors only because I felt I had more control, but a barber, I am not. It looked terrible until her fur started to grow back. If you want a more even look, then I would use a clippers.

ADD: I don't know how large your dog is, but this would work well for a smaller breed.

I too like the wahls, prefer the wahl km-2. I use a 15 blade on mine, but you can probably use a 10 with no problem. A word of advise....if you are going to do any other clipping, do this area first, because the blades do get warm after a bit and they don't much like a warm set of clippers on that particular tender area....think about it....would you??? :O)
