My mom is a stict disciplinarian.She cuts my hair herself to a 1/4inch buzz cut.She says I should look like an athlete which i am.(swimming and basketball).She says I shouldn't bother abt hair since I have other things to worry about.She herself has short hair and dad won't help.I feel like a dumb nerd boy. My mom won't talk abt it. When I argued recently by showing her the responses I got here she grounded me for 2 weeks,cut my pocket money and during my haircut yesterday(she gives me one every month) she shaved me bald with the clippers. I am an south indian girl.I am 5'10-55kg fair with attractive face, None of my girl-friends make fun of cos they r used to it.Do u think that boys will mind??? Anyway I can't leave my parents(as suggested here in my last question) after i am 18 cos here we don't have part-time jobs to support yourself. It's not safe for girls to be on their own.And we don't have a guidance counsellor in our school(They don't give a damn abt us) Pls what should i do??

Stand up to her! She can't treat you like that. Don't let her cut your hair! And try asking her why she won't let you grow it, there has to be another reason. If she doesn't answer you, keep asking. Once you find out, find a way to convince her that she should let you look how you want to look.

Would just not letting her give you the cut work? Just say, "No."

Tell her you don't want your hair cut short and that's that. She'll try to ground you, take away your privileges, and destroy your spirit, but when you win she'll fall hard.

First off i do think the boys do mind..guys like girls with hair..and you are 16 years old you need to tell your mom to back off...if you sit down and let her do this...she will just take advantage of you...i would never ever let my mother do this to me...so its time for you to step up...live your own life...its not your mom who has to go around walking bald just bc she plays sports...threaten to quit playing sports if she dont quit cutting your hair...thats why they invented ponytails...

It sounds like there's nothing you can do. But you're mom sounds like a psycho. She needs mental help. Sorry. Just save up as much money as you can and get the hell away when you turn 18.
