What should you do about hair on the side of your ear? (NOT inner ear hair)?

Ok, there are tons of answers about ear hair, but it seems like all of them are referring to inner ear hair. The stuff that grows out of the middle of your ear when you get older.

I'm asking about the peachfuzz on the side of your ear. Some of mine has started getting longer and darker. I tried shaving it once (with some clipper) and it has grown back to what seems to be longer and darker.

It's usually not that visible, but in certain lighting it looks horrible, even the part that's still peachfuzz, because of its length.

What can you do about this? I was thinking waxing, but can you wax peachfuzz?? You sure as hell can't tweeze it. I know you can't laser it or anything because its too light. If I was certain that shaving wouldn't make it any darker/thicker I would be totally fine with doing that, but I fear that it does. I don't want to end up with lots of dark hair coming off the side of my ears, but it's already bad enough on some parts that I have to do something.

Help?
